     Captain Hugh John Elphinstone Carmichael-Anstruther was born on 27 November 1875.1 He was the son of Windham George Conway Carmichael-Anstruther and Ellen Anne Katharine Adam.1 He married Ada Marie Clark, daughter of Thomas Clark, on 11 September 1906.1 He died on 6 January 1960 at age 84.1
     Captain Hugh John Elphinstone Carmichael-Anstruther fought in the Second Matabele War.1 He fought in the Relief of Rhodesia in 1896.1 He fought in the Boer War.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Royal Welsh Fusiliers.1 He fought in the First World War.1
