     Lt.-Col. Archibald Hugh Arbuthnot was born on 7 December 1875.1 He was the son of Major Archibald Ernest Arbuthnot and Anne Elizabeth Ball.1 He married, firstly, Gertrude Alice Green, daughter of Reverend Frederick Charles Green, on 25 February 1900.1 He married, secondly, Marjory Beech, daughter of Reverend Howard Beech, on 2 February 1920.1 He died on 3 January 1957 at age 81.1
     Lt.-Col. Archibald Hugh Arbuthnot gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the 7th Gurkha Rifles, Indian Army.1 He was Commander of the Field Force to the Persian Frontier between 1913 and 1914.1 He was Commander of the Field Force to the Naga Hills in 1916.1 He fought in the Third Afghan War in 1919.1 He fought in the campaign with the Zhob Valley Field Force in 1922, where he was invalided.1
