     Major Hon. Lionel Henry Dudley Fortescue was born on 10 November 1857.¹ He was the son of Hugh Fortescue, 3rd Earl Fortescue and Georgiana Augusta Charlotte Caroline Dawson-Damer.¹ He married Emily Elizabeth Adam, daughter of Rt. Hon. William Patrick Adam, on 5 July 1895.¹ He died on 11 June 1900 at age 42, killed in action.¹
     Major Hon. Lionel Henry Dudley Fortescue gained the rank of Major in the service of the 17th Lancers.¹ He fought in the Boer War.¹

     Emily Elizabeth Adam was the daughter of Rt. Hon. William Patrick Adam.¹ She married, firstly, Major Hon. Lionel Henry Dudley Fortescue, son of Hugh Fortescue, 3rd Earl Fortescue and Georgiana Augusta Charlotte Caroline Dawson-Damer, on 5 July 1895.¹ She married, secondly, Walter B. Ferrie on 3 September 1912.¹ She died on 3 February 1932.¹
     From 5 July 1895, her married name became Fortescue. From 3 September 1912, her married name became Ferrie.

     Sabina Thérèse Fortescue was born in 1973.¹ She is the daughter of Mark Charles Fortescue and Virginia Rose Caccia-Birch.¹

     Walter B. Ferrie married Emily Elizabeth Adam, daughter of Rt. Hon. William Patrick Adam, on 3 September 1912.¹

     Captain Hon. Arthur Grenville Fortescue was born on 24 December 1858.² He was the son of Hugh Fortescue, 3rd Earl Fortescue and Georgiana Augusta Charlotte Caroline Dawson-Damer.² He married Lilla Gertrude Ellen Fane, daughter of Reverend Frederic Fane and Elizabeth Cockburn, on 12 January 1886.² He died on 3 October 1895 at age 36.²

     Lilla Gertrude Ellen Fane was the daughter of Reverend Frederic Fane and Elizabeth Cockburn.¹ She married Captain Hon. Arthur Grenville Fortescue, son of Hugh Fortescue, 3rd Earl Fortescue and Georgiana Augusta Charlotte Caroline Dawson-Damer, on 12 January 1886.¹ She died on 30 October 1913.¹
     Her married name became Fortescue.

     Reverend Frederic Fane was born on 11 July 1825. He was the son of Reverend Edward Fane and Maria Hodges. He married, firstly, Elizabeth Cockburn, daughter of Sir William Cockburn, 9th Bt., on 19 August 1851. He married, secondly, Fanny Eliza Magniac, daughter of Hollingwoth Magniac, on 28 October 1864. He died on 22 February 1902 at age 76.
     Reverend Frederic Fane lived at Moyles Court, Hampshire, England.¹

     Major Hon. Sir John William Fortescue was born on 28 December 1859.¹ He was the son of Hugh Fortescue, 3rd Earl Fortescue and Georgiana Augusta Charlotte Caroline Dawson-Damer.¹ He married Winifred Beech, daughter of Reverend Howard Beech, on 30 April 1914.¹ He died on 22 October 1933 at age 73, without issue.¹
     Major Hon. Sir John William Fortescue graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.).¹ He was the Librarian between 1905 and 1926 at Windsor Castle, Windsor, Berkshire, England.¹ He was Ford Lecturer in 1911 at Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.¹ He was Lees-Knowles Lecturer in 1913 at Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.¹ He gained the rank of Major in the service of the Royal North Devon Yeomanry Cavalry.¹ He was Creighton Lecturer in 1915 at London University, London, England.¹ He was invested as a Fellow, Royal Historical Society (F.R.H.S.).¹ He was historian of the British Army.¹ He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Letters (Litt.D.) by Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1925.¹ He was Romanes Lecturer in 1929 at Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.¹ He was invested as a Knight Commander, Royal Victorian Order (K.C.V.O.).¹ He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.) by University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.¹

     Winifred Beech was the daughter of Reverend Howard Beech.¹ She married Major Hon. Sir John William Fortescue, son of Hugh Fortescue, 3rd Earl Fortescue and Georgiana Augusta Charlotte Caroline Dawson-Damer, on 30 April 1914.¹ She died on 9 April 1951.¹
     Her married name became Fortescue.
