     Sir John Arundell also went by the nick-name of Jack of Tilbury.3 He was appointed Knight in 1513 at the Battle of the Spurs.1 He held the office of Sheriff of Cornwall.1 He held the office of Vice-Admiral of the West, under King Henry VII and Henry VIII.1 He lived at Trerice, Cornwall, England.2 He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.1

     Sir Jacob Astley, 1st Bt. was born circa 1639.1 He was the son of Edward Astley and Elizabeth Astley.1 He married Blanche Wodehouse, daughter of Sir Philip Wodehouse, 3rd Bt. and Lucy Cotton, on 6 February 1661 at Kimberley, Norfolk, EnglandG.2 He died on 17 August 1729.1 He was buried on 21 August 1729 at Melton Constable, Norfolk, EnglandG.2 His will was proven (by probate) on 1 April 1730.2
     He matriculated at Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, on 19 June 1659.2 On 7 September 1659 he succeeded to the estates of Hill Morton and Melton Constable on the death of his paternal uncle, Sir Isaac Astley, 1st Bt.2 He was created 1st Baronet Astley, of Hill Morton, co. Warwick [England] on 26 June 1660.1 He held the office of Sheriff of Norfolk from 1663 to 1664.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Norfolk between 1685 and 1687.2 In 1688 he succeeded to the estates of his maternal uncle, Jacob Astley, 3rd Baron Astley of Reading.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Norfolk from 1689 to 1690.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Norfolk between 1695 and 1701.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Norfolk between 1702 and 1705.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Norfolk between 1710 and 1722.2 He held the office of a Commissioner of Trade between 1714 and 1717.2 His last will was dated 3 June 1729.
