     Dorothy Sands was born at Rottington, Cumberland, England.2 She is the daughter of Henry Sands.1 She married Henry Ponsonby, son of Simon Ponsonby and Anne Englesfield, on 14 May 1605 at St. Bees, Cumberland, England.2
     From 14 May 1605, her married name became Ponsonby.1
