     William Austen was baptised on 18 February 1700 at St. Margaret's Church, Horsmonden, Kent, England.1,2 He was the son of John Austen and Elizabeth Weller.2 He married Rebecca Hampson, daughter of Sir George Hampson, 4th Bt. and Mary Coghill, on 12 January 1727 at London, England.2 He died on 7 December 1737 at age 37 at Tonbridge, Kent, England.1,2 He was buried on 12 December 1737 at St. Peter and St. Paul Parish Church, Tonbridge, Kent, England.2
     He was a surgeon.1

     Rebecca Hampson was born circa 1696.2 She was the daughter of Sir George Hampson, 4th Bt. and Mary Coghill.2,3 She married, firstly, William Walter.1 She married, secondly, William Austen, son of John Austen and Elizabeth Weller, on 12 January 1727 at London, England.2 She died on 6 February 1732 at Tonbridge, Kent, England.2 She was buried on 8 February 1732 at St. Peter and St. Paul Parish Church, Tonbridge, Kent, England.2
     Her married name became Walter.1 From 12 January 1727, her married name became Austen.1
