     Sir John Charles Dalrymple-Hay of Park Place, 3rd Bt. was born on 11 February 1821 at Wigtown, Wigtownshire, ScotlandG.2 He was the son of Sir James Dalrymple-Hay of Park Place, 2nd Bt. and Elizabeth Heron-Maxwell.3 He married Hon. Eliza Napier, daughter of Captain William John Napier, 9th Lord Napier of Merchistoun and Eliza Cochrane-Johnstone, on 18 August 1847.1 He died on 28 January 1912 at age 90 at London, EnglandG.2
     He fought in the First Kaffir War in 1835.1 He fought in the West Coast of Africa Camaign between 1835 and 1836.1 He fought in the Syrian War in 1840.1 He fought in the Crimean War between 1855 and 1856, as captain of H.M.S.
