     Alfred Edward Borthwick was born on 22 April 1871.1 He was the son of William Henry Borthwick, 15th of Crookston and Rebecca Cathcart.1 He married Mary Simcoe Violet Pringle, daughter of Captain James Thomas Pringle of Torwoodlee, on 12 June 1907.1 He died on 7 December 1955 at age 84.1
