     Henry Borthwick of that Ilk, 16th of Crookston was born on 23 July 1868.¹ He was the son of William Henry Borthwick, 15th of Crookston and Rebecca Cathcart.² He married Melena Florence Pringle, daughter of Captain James Thomas Pringle of Torwoodlee, on 27 November 1902.² He died on 27 May 1937 at age 68.¹
     He was educated at Madras College, Madras, India.² He was educated at St. Andrews University, St. Andrews, Fife, Scotland.² He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the service of the Fife and Forfar Yeomanry.² He succeeded to the title of 22nd Lord Borthwick [S., 1452] on 8 October 1928, de jure.²

     Melena Florence Pringle was the daughter of Captain James Thomas Pringle of Torwoodlee.¹ She married Henry Borthwick of that Ilk, 16th of Crookston, son of William Henry Borthwick, 15th of Crookston and Rebecca Cathcart, on 27 November 1902.² She died on 2 May 1962.²
      From 27 November 1902, her married name became Borthwick.¹

     Captain James Thomas Pringle of Torwoodlee gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Royal Navy.¹

     Margaret Frances Cormack was the daughter of Alexander Campbell Cormack.¹ She married John Henry Stuart Borthwick of that Ilk, 23rd Lord Borthwick, son of Henry Borthwick of that Ilk, 16th of Crookston and Melena Florence Pringle, on 8 January 1938.¹ She died on 22 March 1976.²
      From 8 January 1938, her married name became Borthwick.¹

     Alexander Campbell Cormack lived at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.¹

     John Hugh Borthwick of that Ilk, 24th Lord Borthwick was born on 14 November 1940.¹ He is the son of John Henry Stuart Borthwick of that Ilk, 23rd Lord Borthwick and Margaret Frances Cormack.¹ He married Adelaide Birkmyre, daughter of Archy Birkmyre and Doreen Barclay, on 9 February 1974.²
     He was educated at Gordonstoun School, Elgin, Morayshire, Scotland.¹ He graduated from Edinburgh School of Agriculture, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland, with a Scottish Diploma in Agricuture (S.D.A.).³ He graduated from Edinburgh School of Agriculture, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland, with a National Diploma in Agricuture (N.D.A.).³ He was styled as Master of Borthwick in 1986.¹ He succeeded to the title of 24th Lord Borthwick [S., 1452] on 30 September 1996.³ He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Midlothian in 2001.⁴ He lived in 2003 at Crookston, Heriot, Midlothian, Scotland.⁴

     Adelaide Birkmyre was born on 10 January 1945.² She is the daughter of Archy Birkmyre and Doreen Barclay.^1,2 She married John Hugh Borthwick of that Ilk, 24th Lord Borthwick, son of John Henry Stuart Borthwick of that Ilk, 23rd Lord Borthwick and Margaret Frances Cormack, on 9 February 1974.²
     She was educated at St. Leonard's School, St. Andrews, Fife, Scotland.² From 9 February 1974, her married name became Borthwick.¹ She lived in 2003 at Crookston, Heriot, Midlothian, Scotland.²

     Archy Birkmyre was born on 29 November 1904.² He was the son of Sir Archibald Birkmyre, 1st Bt. and Anne Black.² He married Doreen Barclay, daughter of Robert Barclay, on 3 April 1940. He died in 1992.²
     He fought in the Second World War between 1939 and 1943, in the Royal Armoured Corps, and was invalided.² He lived at Comrie, Perthshire, Scotland.¹ He lived at Overdale, Crieff, Perthshire, Scotland.³

     John Borthwick, 1st of Crookston was the son of Sir William Borthwick, 1st Lord Borthwick and unknown wife (?).^1,2 He died circa 1459.²
      On 17 July 1446 he was granted the charter for Crookston by Sir Alexander Ramsey of Dalwolsey.²

     Florence Augusta Dormer is the daughter of Clement Upton Cottrell Dormer.¹ She married Hon. Cecil Saumarez Irby, son of Florance George Henry Irby, 5th Baron Boston and Hon. Augusta Caroline Saumarez, on 31 January 1885.²
      From 31 January 1885, her married name became Irby.¹
