     Lt.-Col. Alexander Borthwick was born on 28 February 1839.1 He was the son of John Borthwick, 13th of Crookston and Elizabeth Sutherland Dallas.1 He married Katherine Thistlethwayte, daughter of Thomas Thistlethwayte and Elizabeth Catherine Pakenham, on 20 July 1876.1 He died on 6 October 1914 at age 75.1
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Rifle Brigade.1 He was Chief Constable of Lothians and Peebles.1 He was appointed Member, Royal Victorian Order (M.V.O.)1

     Thomas Thistlethwayte was born on 4 December 1809.2 He was the son of Thomas Thistlethwayte.2 He married Elizabeth Catherine Pakenham, daughter of Lt.-Gen. Hon. Sir Hercules Robert Pakenham and Hon. Emily Stapleton, on 6 August 1850.3 He died on 1 January 1900 at age 90.2
     He lived at Southwick Park, Hampshire, EnglandG.1
