     George Borthwick was the son of William Borthwick, 7th of Crookston and Elizabeth Hoppringle of Hoppringle.1 He died in 1702, without male issue.1
     He lived at Trottingshaw, Scotland.1

     Mary Nairne is the daughter of William Nairne.1 She married John Borthwick, 10th of Crookston, son of William Borthwick, 9th of Crookston and Janet Craig, in 1705.1
      From 1705, her married name became Borthwick.1

     John Borthwick, 11th of Crookston is the son of John Borthwick, 10th of Crookston and Mary Nairne.1 He married Agnes Hunter.1
      In 1774 he unsuccessfully claimed the peerage of Borthwick.1

     John Borthwick, 13th of Crookston was born on 7 April 1788.1,2 He was the son of John Borthwick, 12th of Crookston and Grizel Adinston.1 He married, firstly, Anne Dundas, daughter of Rt. Hon. Robert Dundas of Arniston and Hon. Elizabeth Dundas, on 16 March 1819.1 He married, secondly, Elizabeth Sutherland Dallas, daughter of Alexander Dallas, on 28 April 1838.3 He died on 18 September 1845 at age 57.2
     He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.).1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.).1
