     William Brabazon, 1st Earl of Meath is the son of Sir Edward Brabazon, 1st Lord Brabazon, Baron of Ardee and Mary Smith.1
     William Brabazon, 1st Earl of Meath succeeded to the title of 2nd Lord Brabazon, Baron of Ardee, co. Louth [I., 1616] on 7 August 1625.1 On 8 February 1626/27 a King's Letter ordered that he should be created Earl of Carlow, but this was suppressed, and created Earl of Meath instead.1 He was created 1st Earl of Meath [Ireland] on 16 April 1627.1
