Philippa Hope was born on 7 June 1900.2 She was the daughter of Vice-Admiral Sir George Webley Hope and Arabella Phillippa Sams.1,3 She married Brigadier Alfred Geoffrey Neville, son of Sir George Neville and Fairlie Florence Lloyd-Jones, on 1 May 1922.1 She died in 1981.1

Vice-Admiral Sir George Webley Hope was born on 11 October 1869.2 He was the son of Rear-Admiral Charles Webley Hope and Ellen Evelyn Elizabeth Jordan.3 He married Arabella Phillippa Sams, daughter of John Sutton Sams, on 24 August 1899.2 He died on 11 July 1959 at age 89.2
He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.2 He was Flag Captain to Vice-Admiral, Commander-in-Chief East Mediterranean Squadron in 1915.2 He held the office of Aide-de-Camp to HM George V between 1915 and 1917.2 He was Director of Operations Division, Admiralty War Staff between 1916 and 1917.2 He was decorated with the award of the Legion of Honour (2nd class).2 He held the office of Deputy First Sea Lord in 1918.2 He was decorated with the award of the Distinguished Service Medal (D.S.M.)
