He married, firstly, Iris Margaret Tully, daughter of William Palk Tully, on 24 January 1947. He married, secondly, June Laurence, daughter of Captain Lancelot Gerrard Laurence, on 1 April 1951. He and Iris Margaret Tully were divorced in 1952.
