     He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the 99th Regiment.1 He lived at Jamaica.1

      With remainder to heirs male for ever.3 He was Member of Parliament (M.P.) Caithness in 1703.3 He was created 1st Baronet Sinclair, of Dunbeath, co. Caithness [Nova Scotia] on 12 October 1704.
