     F/Lt. Hubert Ernest Malcolm Bowes-Lyon was born on 17 May 1907. He is the son of Captain Hubert Ernest Bowes-Lyon and Mary Agnes Smeaton. He married Fanny Rose Jacobs, daughter of Simon Jacobs, on 12 July 1943 at Johannesburg, Transvaal, South Africa. He and Fanny Rose Jacobs were divorced in 1964.
     F/Lt. Hubert Ernest Malcolm Bowes-Lyon gained the rank of Flight Lieutenant in the service of the Royal Air Force.
