     Valerie Joy Minchin was born on 26 August 1945 at Atherton, Queensland, Australia.1 She was the daughter of Edwin Lloyd Minchin and Ruth Joy Mills.1 She married Frederik Maurits Willem Wortman circa 1968 at Lae, Papua New Guinea.1 She died on 13 December 2005 at age 60.1
     From circa 1968, her married name became Wortman.1
