     Edward Quintal was born on 2 June 1844 at Pitcairn Island.1 He was the son of William Quintal and Maria Christian.1 He died on 24 March 1855 at age 10 at Pitcairn Island, from tetanus.1
     While playing, he pierced his foot with a barbed arrow (used for taking fish from holes in rocks), and within 2 days, he had died of tetatus. His uncle, George Nobbs, recalled that although he was in intense pain, and he knew he was dying, he expressed no fear of death, and died saying, 'Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.1'
