     Michael Hans Edward Kirchem was born on 2 November 1937.1 He is the son of Rudolf Paul Gerard Kirchem and Margaret Dorothy Blunt.1 He married Jean Miriam McKenna, daughter of Dr. John McKenna, on 3 April 1965.1 He and Jean Miriam McKenna were divorced in 1976.1
     Michael Hans Edward Kirchem was educated at Stowe School, Buckingham, Buckinghamshire, England.1 He was educated at Exeter College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, Bachelor of Arts (B.A.).1 He was a practising solicitor in 1965.1
