Sir John Harvey Blunt, 8th Bt. was born on 1 January 1839.1 He was the son of William Blunt and Eliza Richards.1 He married, firstly, Susan Hoad, daughter of Philip Hoad, on 28 April 1870.1 He died on 26 January 1922 at age 83.2
Sir John Harvey Blunt, 8th Bt. fought in the Indian Mutiny between 1857 and 1859.1 He fought in the Siege of Lucknow.3 He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the 1st Royal Dublin Fusliers.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the 4th Battalion, North Lancashire Regiment.1 He gained the rank of Captain in 1866 in the service of the 1st Battalion, Royal Welch Fusiliers.1 He succeeded to the title of 8th Baronet Blunt, of London [G.B., 1720] on 27 December 1902.1
