     Frederick Lamport Barnard was born on 20 February 1813.1 He was the son of Rear-Admiral Sir Edward King Barnard and Mary Parkin.1 He married Elizabeth Featherstonehaugh.1
     Frederick Lamport Barnard was commissioned on 3 June 1827 with the rank of First-Class Volunteer, in the service of the Royal Navy on board H.M.S. Revenge.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant on 26 October 1840.1
