     John Horace Blakiston was born on 27 June 1897.1 He was the son of Ralph Blakiston and Ellen Ann Fell Walker.1 He married Winifred Kathleen Maybank Webb, daughter of Archie William Webb, on 17 December 1928.1 He died in 1982.1
     John Horace Blakiston was educated at Merchant Taylors' School, Crosby, Lancashire, England.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the service of the Royal Naval Reserve.1 He graduated from Birmingham University, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England, with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.).1
