     Major Basil Tanfield Beridge Boothby was born on 14 January 1873.¹ He was the son of Reverend Evelyn Boothby and Margaretta Jane Carr.¹ He married Katharine Georgina Knox, daughter of Major Francis Blake Knox, on 23 October 1909.¹ He died on 8 May 1948 at age 75.¹
     Major Basil Tanfield Beridge Boothby gained the rank of Major in the service of the Royal Engineer.¹ He was invested as a Fellow, Royal Geographical Society (F.R.G.S.).¹ He was registered as a Member, Institution of Civil Engineers (M.I.C.E.).¹ He fought in the First World War between 1916 and 1919, serving in France and Flanders, and was mentioned in despatches twice.¹

     Susan Penelope Asquith is the daughter of Brig.-Gen. Hon. Arthur Melland Asquith.¹ She married Evelyn Basil Boothby, son of Major Basil Tanfield Beridge Boothby and Katharine Georgina Knox, on 18 September 1946.¹
     From 18 September 1946, her married name became Boothby.¹ She lived in 2003 at 23 Holland Park Avenue, London, England.¹
