Captain Basil Charles Boothby was born on 13 January 1834.1 He was the son of Reverend Charles Boothby and Marianne Catherine Beridge.1 He married Emily Sarah Jebb, daughter of Maj.-Gen. Sir Joshua Jebb and Mary Legh Thomas, on 28 January 1860.1 He died on 9 August 1892 at age 58.1
He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the 95th Regiment.1 He fought in the Battle of Alma, where he was seriously wounded, and his leg amputated.1
