     Basil Frederick Boothby was educated at Lancing College, Lancing, Sussex, England.1 He graduated from Selwyn College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.).1 He gained the rank of Captain in 1942 in the service of the Royal Army Service Corps (R.A.S.C.).1 He fought in the Second World War between 1942 and 1945.1 He was invested as a Member, Order of the British Empire (M.B.E.) in 1957.1
