     Major Joseph Brooksbank was the son of Benjamin Brooksbank and Philippa Clitherow.1 He married Susan James, daughter of William James, on 7 June 1832.1 He died on 8 April 1853, without issue.1
     He inherited The Beach, Cheshire from his cousin, Lady Stracey.1 He gained the rank of Major in the service of the 24th Regiment.1
