     Admiral Sir Caspar John was born on 22 March 1903.1 He was the son of Augustus Edwin John and Ida Margaret Nettleship.1 He married Mary Vanderpump in 1944.1 He died on 11 July 1984 at age 81.1
     He was educated at Royal Naval College, Dartmouth, Devon, EnglandG.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1952.1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) in 1956.1 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of the Bath (G.C.B.) in 1960.1 He held the office of First Sea Lord of the Admiralty between 1960 and 1964.1 He gained the rank of Admiral of the Fleet in 1962.1
     He had a son and two daughters.1 He lived at Trethewey, Mousehole, Penzance, Cornwall, EnglandG.1
