     Thomas William Burden, 1st Baron Burden was born on 29 January 1885.1 He was the son of Thomas Burden.1 He married Augusta Sime, daughter of David Sime, on 11 July 1910.1 He died on 27 May 1970 at age 85.1
     Thomas William Burden, 1st Baron Burden was educated at London School of Economics, London, England.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Essex.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Labour) for Sheffield Park between 1942 and 1950.1 He was invested as a Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1948.1 He held the office of Lord-in-Waiting between 1950 and 1951.1 He was created 1st Baron Burden, of Hazelbarrow, co. Derby [U.K.] on 1 February 1950.1
