Sir Samuel Hannay of Mochrum and of Kirkdale, 3rd Bt.1

     Sir Samuel Hannay of Mochrum and of Kirkdale, 3rd Bt. was the son of William Hannay of Kirkdale and Margaret Johnston.2 He married Mary Mead, daughter of Dr. Robert Mead, in 1768.2 He died on 11 December 1790.2 He died intestate and his estate was administered in January 1791.2
     He was a merchant at London, EnglandG.1 He was recognised by Lord Lyon King of Arms, and matriculated his arms at the Lyons Court on 26 September 1783.1 He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Hannay, of Mochrum, co. Kirkcudbright [N.S., 1630] on 26 September 1783.2 Between 1785 and 1787 he built Kirkdale House in a simple classical style of dressed local granite to designs by Robert Adam.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.)1 He lived at Kirkdale, Galloway, ScotlandG.2

     William Hannay of Kirkdale is the son of Samuel Hannay of Kirkdale and Jean Mackie.1,2 He married Margaret Johnston, daughter of Reverend Patrick Johnston of Girthon.3
     He fought in the Wars in Flanders.3 He lived at Kirkdale, Galloway, ScotlandG.1 On 13 November 1716 he was served heir to his father.3
