     Robert Cathcart Bruce was born on 8 September 1859.¹ He was the son of Maj.-Gen. Alexander James Bruce and Marianne Thomas.¹ He married Grizelda Wilson Rodger, daughter of Reverend Alexander Rodger, on 7 November 1882.¹ He died on 24 November 1955 at age 96.¹
