Marion Harriet Cathcart was the daughter of Robert Cathcart.1 She married Alexander Fairlie Bruce, son of Sir William Bruce of Stenhouse, 7th Bt. and Anne Colquhoun Fairlie, on 7 February 1827.1 She died on 29 November 1852.1

Maj.-Gen. Alexander James Bruce was born on 24 December 1828.1 He was the son of Alexander Fairlie Bruce and Marion Harriet Cathcart.1 He married Marianne Thomas, daughter of J. F. Thomas, on 16 December 1853.1 He died on 9 May 1906 at age 77.1
