     Verena Hilda May Brunner was born on 17 November 1937.1 She was the daughter of Anthony Brunner and Amy Phyllis Ivy Felicity Whittaker.1 She married Arthur Edward William Thornton, son of Arthur Edmund Thornton II, on 2 December 1967.1 She died on 29 December 2000 at age 63.2
     Verena Hilda May Brunner graduated with a Master of Arts (M.A.).1 She graduated from University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland, with a Diploma in Education.1 From 2 December 1967, her married name became Thornton. She lived at 24 Mannerston Holdings, Linlithgow, West Lothian, Scotland.1
