     Valerie Finnis was born on 31 October 1924 at Crowborough, Sussex, England.2 She was the daughter of Commander Steriker Finnis and Constance (?).2 She married Major Sir David John Montagu Douglas Scott, son of Admiral Lord Sir Charles Thomas Montagu Douglas Scott and Ada Mary Ryan, on 31 July 1970.1 She died on 17 October 2006 at age 81.2
     From 31 July 1970, her married name became Montagu Douglas Scott.1 She was a horticulturalist and garden photographer.1
