     Sir Charles Raymond, 1st Bt. was baptised on 22 April 1713 at Withycombe Raleigh, Devon, England.2 He was the son of John Raymond and Anna Maria Tanner.1 He married Sarah Webster, daughter of Thomas Webster.1 He died on 24 August 1788 at age 75, without male issue.1 He was buried on 29 August 1788 at Barking, Essex, England.2 His will was probated in 1788, at £200,000.2
     Sir Charles Raymond, 1st Bt. held the office of High Sheriff of Essex from 1771 to 1772.1 He was created 1st Baronet Raymond, of Valentine House, co. Essex [Great Britain] on 31 May 1774, with a special remainder to his son-in-law, William Burrell.1

     Sophia Raymond was born circa 1750.2 She was the daughter of Sir Charles Raymond, 1st Bt. and Sarah Webster.1 She married, firstly, Sir William Burrell, 2nd Bt., son of Peter Burrell and Amy Raymond, on 13 April 1773.1 She married, secondly, Reverend William Clay on 23 May 1797 at St. Marylebone Church, Marylebone, London, England.2 She died on 20 June 1802 at West Cowes, Isle of Wight, England.2
     From 13 April 1773, her married name became Burrell. She was a poetess and dramatist.2 From 23 May 1797, her married name became Clay.1
