Colonel William Edward Albemarle Blakeney was born on 5 December 1862 at London, England.2 He was the son of Edward Blakeney and Mary Parker.1 He married Mary Emily Long, daughter of Colonel William Long and Anna Mary Hunter, on 15 August 1894 at Somerset, England.1 He died on 7 March 1942 at age 79.1
Colonel William Edward Albemarle Blakeney was educated at Jersey.1 He was commissioned in 1882, in the service of the King's Shropshire Light Infantry (K.S.L.I.).1 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England.1 He was commissioned on 10 May 1882.2 He fought in the Egyptian Campaign.1 He served between 1883 and 1886 at India.1 He was in the service of the King's Own Scottish Borderers (K.O.S.B.).1 Between 1886 and 1887 Colonel William Edward Albemarle Blakeney was in the service of the Cureton's Multanis.1 He was transferred to Skinner's Horse in 1887.1 He fought in the Tirah Campaign between 1897 and 1898.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the service of the 3rd Bengal Lancers (Skinner's Horse).1 He was Commandant of the 3rd Bengal Lancers between 1908 and 1913.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the Indian Army.2 He was Camp Commandant of the IV Corps between 1914 and 1915.1 He was the Commanding Officer of the 1st Garrison Battalion, Bedfordshire and Hertsfordshire Regiment between 1916 and 1920. This was his last posting before his retirement.1 He was invested as a Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1919.1 He lived at Abbert, Camberley, Surrey, England.1
