     Sir Colin Campbell of Ardkinglass, 1st Bt. was born circa 1640.1 He was the son of James Campbell of Ardkinglass and Mary Campbell.1 He married Helen Maxwell, daughter of Sir Patrick Maxwell of Newark.1 He died in April 1709.1
     Sir Colin Campbell of Ardkinglass, 1st Bt. was created 1st Baronet Campbell, of Ardkinglass [Nova Scotia] on 23 March 1679.1 In 1684 he was imprisoned on unfounded suspiion of high treason.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Argyllshire [Scotland] between 1693 and 1702.1

     Margaret Ball was the daughter of Captain William Conductor Ball.2 She married Sir James Campbell of Aberuchill, 3rd Bt., son of Colin Campbell and Catherine Nisbet, on 4 March 1754.1 She died on 19 September 1766 at Killbryde, Perthshire, Scotland.3
     From 4 March 1754, her married name became Campbell.1

     Colin Campbell was the son of Sir James Campbell of Aberuchill, 3rd Bt. and Margaret Ball.2 He died in 1811, unmarried.1
     Colin Campbell gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the Perthshire Militia.3 He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the 19th Foot.1

     Sir Alexander Campbell of Aberuchill, 4th Bt. was born on 16 August 1757.3 He was the son of Sir James Campbell of Aberuchill, 3rd Bt. and Margaret Ball.2 He married Margaret Coldstream, daughter of Alexander Coldstream, on 31 July 1816.3 He died on 13 December 1824 at age 67 at Killbryde Castle, Perthshire, Scotland.4
     Sir Alexander Campbell of Aberuchill, 4th Bt. succeeded to the title of 4th Baronet Campbell, of Aberuchill [N.S., 1668] in March 1812.3
