     Lady Marie Adelaide Brassey was born in 1875. She was the daughter of Sir Thomas Brassey, 1st Earl Brassey and Anna Allnutt.¹ She married Freeman Thomas, 1st Marquess of Willingdon, son of Frederick Freeman Thomas and Mabel Brand, on 20 July 1892.¹ She died on 30 January 1960.²
     Her married name became Thomas. She was invested as a Imperial Order of the Crown of India (C.I.) in 1917.² She was decorated with the Kaisar-i-Hind Gold Medal.² She was invested as a Dame of Justice, Order of St. John of Jerusalem (D.J.St.J.).² She was decorated with the Order of Mercy.² She was invested as a Dame Grand Cross, Order of the British Empire (G.B.E.) in 1924.²
