     Lt.-Col. Henry Westenra Carden was born on 13 April 1857.1 He was the son of Reverend Arthur Carden and Rosa Emily Woodward.2 He married, firstly, Emily Elphinstone Clerk, daughter of Reverend William Courtenay Clerk, on 8 March 1886.1 He married, secondly, Beatrice Sharp, daughter of Peter Sharp, on 22 October 1919.1 He died on 30 May 1928 at age 71.1
     Lt.-Col. Henry Westenra Carden gained the rank of Captain in the service of the 2nd Battalion, Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the Army Pay Department.1
