     Admiral Sir Edward Gennys Fanshawe was born on 27 November 1814 at Stoke Damerel, Devon, England.2 He was the son of General Edward Fanshawe and Frances Mary Dalrymple. He was baptised on 11 January 1815 at Stoke Damerel, Devon, England.3 He married Jane Cardwell, daughter of John Cardwell and Elizabeth Birley, on 11 May 1843 at St. George's Church, Hanover Square, London, England.1,2 He died on 21 October 1906 at age 91.2
     He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of the Bath (G.C.B.)1

     Elizabeth Cardwell was the daughter of John Cardwell and Elizabeth Birley.1 She married Henry Thring, 1st Baron Thring, son of Reverend John Gale Dalton Thring and Sarah Jenkyns, on 14 August 1856.1 She died on 27 November 1897.2
     From 14 August 1856, her married name became Thring.1 After her marriage, Elizabeth Cardwell was styled as Baroness Thring on 17 August 1886.

     Henry Thring, 1st Baron Thring was born on 3 November 1818.2 He was the son of Reverend John Gale Dalton Thring and Sarah Jenkyns.2 He married Elizabeth Cardwell, daughter of John Cardwell and Elizabeth Birley, on 14 August 1856.1 He died on 4 February 1907 at age 88.2
     He graduated from Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He was admitted to Barrister-at-Law in 1845.1 He was Counsel to the Home Office between 1861 and 1869.3 He was Parliamentary Counsel to the Government between 1869 and 1886.3 He was created 1st Baron Thring, of Alderhurst, co. Surrey [U.K.] on 17 August 1886.2 He held the office of High Steward of Kingston-on-Thames.3 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.)1
