     Henry Hyndford Carmichael Smyth was born on 13 December 1840.1 He was the son of David Scott Carmichael Smyth and Isabella Frances Oakes.2 He died on 12 March 1842 at age 1.1

     Major Robert Carmichael Smyth was born on 3 August 1799.1 He was the son of James Carmichael Smyth and Mary Holyland.2 He married, firstly, Agnes Rosina Harvey, daughter of Captain Henry Harvey, in 1854.1 He married, secondly, Dorothy Susan Tudor, daughter of William Tudor, on 14 April 1863.1 He died on 13 May 1888 at age 88.1
     He was educated at Charterhouse School, Godalming, Surrey, EnglandG.1 He gained the rank of Major in the 93rd Highlanders.1 He was originator of the scheme of Canadian Pacific Railway.1

     Agnes Rosina Harvey is the daughter of Captain Henry Harvey.2 She married Major Robert Carmichael Smyth, son of James Carmichael Smyth and Mary Holyland, in 1854.1
     From 1854, her married name became Carmichael Smyth.1

     Theobald Taaffe, 4th Earl of Carlingford was the son of Major Hon. John Taaffe and Lady Rose Lambart.1 He married Lady Amelia Plunkett, daughter of Luke Plunkett, 3rd Earl of Fingall and Lady Margaret MacCarty, before 15 February 1696/97.1 He died on 24 November 1738 at Lille, FranceG.1 He was buried on 26 November 1738 at Lille, FranceG.1 His will was proven (by probate) on 2 May 1739 at Dublin, County Dublin, IrelandG.1
     He succeeded as the 5th Baron of Ballymote, co. Sligo [I., 1628] in August 1704.2 He succeeded as the 4th Earl of Carlingford, co. Louth [I., 1661] in August 1704.1 He succeeded as the 5th Viscount Taaffe of Corren, co. Sligo [I., 1628] in August 1704.2 His last will was dated 7 May 1737.
     On his death, his Earldom became extinct.1

     Captain Mark Wood Carmichael Smyth was born on 1 October 1801.1 He was the son of James Carmichael Smyth and Mary Holyland.2 He married Marianne Hutton, daughter of Henry Hutton, on 3 June 1831.1 He died on 12 July 1872 at age 70.1
     He was educated at Charterhouse School, Godalming, Surrey, EnglandG.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the Madras Cavalry.1
