Lt.-Col. George Lynedoch Carmichael was born on 8 December 1831.1 He was the son of David Scott Carmichael Smyth and Anne Sherwood.2 He married Eva Saunders, daughter of Andrew Saunders, on 7 July 1870.1 He died on 29 January 1903 at age 71.1
Lt.-Col. George Lynedoch Carmichael was baptised with the name of George Lynedoch Carmichael Smyth.3 He was educated at Harrow School, Harrow on the Hill, London, England.1 His name was legally changed to George Lynedoch Carmichael by Royal Licence.3 He fought in the Crimean War.1 He was decorated with the award of Order of Medjidie (5th Class).1 He was decorated with the award of Chevalier, Legion of Honour.1 He fought in the Indian Mutiny, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the 95th Regiment.1 He held the office of Chief Constable of Worcestershire between 1871 and 1903.1

George Lynedoch Carmichael and Eva Saunders.2 He married Dorothea Helen Mary Elizabeth Sutherland Colquhoun, daughter of Sir James Colquhoun of Luss, 5th Bt. and Charlotte Mary Douglas Monro, on 29 February 1908.1 He died on 14 July 1959 at age 88,.1
