     Augustus Ernest Cathcart was born on 4 March 1875.1 He was the son of Colonel Hon. Augustus Murray Cathcart and Hon. Jean Mary Orde-Powlett.2 He married Hilda Renée Lee, daughter of William Frederick Lee, on 10 June 1913.1 He died on 14 September 1914 at age 39 at France, killed in action.1 He was buried at Paissy Churchyard, Paissy, France.3
     Augustus Ernest Cathcart gained the rank of Captain in the service of the 2nd Battalion, King's Royal Rifle Corps.1 He fought in the Boer War between 1900 and 1902.1 He fought in the First World War in 1914.1
