Sir John Oliphant of Aberdalgie1

     Sir John Oliphant of Aberdalgie was the son of Sir William Oliphant of Aberdalgie and Marian de Berwick.2 He married Margaret Ogilvy, daughter of Sir Patrick Ogilvy of Auchterhouse and Christian Keith.1 He died on 23 January 1445/46 at Arbroath, Angus, ScotlandG, killed in a battle between the Lindsays and his wife's family.1
     In 1442 he was retoured heir to grandfather.1

Sir William Portman1

     Sir William Portman was the son of John Portman and Alice Knoell.2,3 He married Elizabeth Gilbert, daughter of John Gilbert.3 He died before 10 February 1556/57.
     He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Somerset.3 He was a practising lawyer.2 In 1533 he was granted a wardship by King Henry VIII.3 He was an administrator of Catherine of Aragon's will.2 He held the office of Judge in 1547.2 He was appointed Knight in 1547.2 He held the office of Lord Chief Justice in 1554.2
