Oliver Anketell was born in 1680.2 He was the son of Matthew Ancketill and Matilda Moore.2 He married, firstly, Hon. Sarah Caulfeild, daughter of Maj.-Gen. William Caulfeild, 2nd Viscount Charlemont and Anne Margetson, on 28 February 1716/17.1 He married, secondly, Anne Tuton.3 He died shortly after 27 May 1760.2
He was also known as Oliver Ancketill.2 He graduated from Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland, with a Master of Arts (M.A.).2 He held the office of High Sheriff in 1703.2 As of 1709, Oliver Anketell was considered the head of the Ancketill family, succeeding his older brother, William Ancketill.2 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Laws (L.L.D.) by Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland.3 He was one of the founders of the Royal Dublin Society.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Borough of Monaghan between 1754 and 1760, in Grattan's Parliament.2 He lived at Anketell Grove, County Monaghan, Ireland.2
