     Sir William Chaytor, 1st and last Bt. was baptised on 5 August 1639.3 He was the son of Colonel Nicholas Chaytor and Anne Lambton.2,3 He married Peregrina Cradock, daughter of Sir Joseph Cradock and Jane Maxton, on 21 August 1675.3 He died circa December 1720 at Fleet Prison, England, without surviving male issue.4 He was buried on 7 January 1720/21 at St. Bride's Church, London, England.4
     Sir William Chaytor, 1st and last Bt. was created 1st Baronet Chaytor, of Croft Hall [near Darlington], co. York [England] on 28 June 1671.3 He gained the rank of Colonel in 1689 in the service of the Richmondshire Militia.3 He was a prisoner for debt between 1703 and 1720 at Fleet Prison, England.4
     He had six other sons and five daughters.4
     On his death, his baronetcy became extinct.4

     Sir William Chaytor, 1st Bt. was born illegitimately on 29 April 1771.1,3 He was the son of William Chaytor and Jane Lee.2 He married Isabella Carter, daughter of John Carter, on 18 August 1803.1 He died on 28 January 1847 at age 75.4
     Sir William Chaytor, 1st Bt. held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Sunderland.1 He was also known as 1st Baronet Chaytor, of Croft, co. York [U.K.] as of 30 September 1831.1
