     David Bernard Montgomery, 2nd Viscount Montgomery of Alamein was born on 18 August 1928.1 He is the son of Field Marshal Sir Bernard Law Montgomery, 1st Viscount Montgomery of Alamein and Elizabeth Hobart.1 He married, firstly, Mary Raymond Connell, daughter of Sir Charles Connell, on 27 February 1953.1 He and Mary Raymond Connell were divorced in 1967.1 He married, secondly, Tessa Browning, daughter of Lt.-Gen. Sir Frederick Arthur Montague Browning and Daphne du Maurier, in 1970.1
     David Bernard Montgomery, 2nd Viscount Montgomery of Alamein was educated at Winchester College, Winchester, Hampshire, England.1 He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.1 He succeeded to the title of 2nd Viscount Montgomery of Alamein, of Hindhead, co. Surrey [U.K., 1946] on 24 March 1976.1
