     Vice-Admiral Sir John Michael Villiers was born on 22 June 1907.1 He is the son of Rear-Admiral Edward Cecil Villiers and Anne Gordon Haynes-Smith.2 He married Rosemary Grissell, daughter of Lt.-Col. Bernard Salwey Grissell, on 3 November 1936.1
     Vice-Admiral Sir John Michael Villiers usually went by his middle name of Michael.1 He was educated at Oundle School, Oundle, Northamptonshire, England.1 He was educated at Royal Naval College, Dartmouth, Devon, England.1 He fought in the Second World War, where she was mentioned in despatches.1 He was invested as a Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1943.1 He was commander of the H.M.S. Ursa in 1945.1 He was commander of the H.M.S. Snipe between 1946 and 1947.1 He was commander of the H.M.S.
