     Hon. Sir Francis Grenville Clarke was born on 14 March 1879.1 He was the son of Sir William John Clarke, 1st Bt. and Janet Marian Snodgrass.2 He married Nina Ellis Cotton, daughter of Thomas Cotton, on 24 July 1901.1 He died on 13 February 1955 at age 75.1
     Hon. Sir Francis Grenville Clarke held the office of President of the Legislative Council [Victoria] between 1923 and 1943.1 He was vice-chairman of the National Bank of Australasia.1 He was a director of Goldsborough Mortgage and Company.1 He was invested as a Knight Commander, Order of the British Empire (K.B.E.).1

     Nina Ellis Cotton was the daughter of Thomas Cotton.2 She married Hon. Sir Francis Grenville Clarke, son of Sir William John Clarke, 1st Bt. and Janet Marian Snodgrass, on 24 July 1901.1 She died on 27 June 1948.1
     From 24 July 1901, her married name became Clarke.1

     William Anthony Francis Clarke was born in 1908.1 He was the son of Hon. Sir Francis Grenville Clarke and Nina Ellis Cotton.2 He married Jessie Deakin Brookes, daughter of Herbert Brookes, in 1939.1 He died on 22 October 1953.1
     William Anthony Francis Clarke fought in the Second World War.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Australian Imperial Forces.1
