     Sir James Clavering, 6th Bt. was born on 19 August 1680 at All Saints', Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Northumberland, England.1 He was the son of James Clavering and Jane Ellison.1 He married, firstly, Catharine Yorke, daughter of Thomas Yorke, before 1714.1 He married, secondly, Elizabeth Vane, daughter of Lionel Vane, before 1740.1 He died on 12 May 1748 at age 67.1 He was buried on 18 May 1748 at Lanchester, County Durham, England.1
     Sir James Clavering, 6th Bt. succeeded to the title of 6th Baronet Clavering, of Axwell, co. Durham [E., 1661] on 31 December 1738.1
     He had five other sons by his first wife.1

     From before 1714, her married name became Clavering.1

     Sir Thomas Clavering, 7th Bt. was baptised on 19 June 1719.1 He was the son of Sir James Clavering, 6th Bt. and Catharine Yorke.1 He married Martha Douglas, daughter of Joshua Douglas, in May 1746 at Gosforth, Cumberland, England.1 He died on 14 October 1794 at age 75, without issue.1 His will was probated in 1817.1
     Sir Thomas Clavering, 7th Bt. matriculated at Corpus Christi College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, on 20 January 1736/37.1 He succeeded to the title of 7th Baronet Clavering of Axwell, co. Durham [E., 1661] on 12 May 1748.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for St. Mawes from January 1753 to 1754.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Shaftesbury between 1754 and 1761.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Durham between 1768 and 1790.1 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Civil Law (D.C.L.) by Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, on 17 June 1782.1
