Sir Francis Carr Clerke, 7th Bt.1

     Sir Francis Carr Clerke, 7th Bt. was born on 24 October 1748 at St. George Hanover Square, London, EnglandG.2 He was the son of Francis Clerke and Susannah Elizabeth Ashurst.3 He died on 15 October 1778 at age 29 at Saratoga, New York, U.S.A.G, killed in action.1 His will was proven (by probate) in May 1779.2
     He was educated at Abingdon Grammar School, Abingdon, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.2 He was admitted to Inner Temple.2 He succeeded as the 7th Baronet Clerke, of Hitcham, co. Buckingham [E., 1660] on 12 February 1769.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the 3rd Regiment of Foot Guards.2 He fought in the Battle of Saratoga on 15 October 1778.1

     Sir William Henry Clerke, 8th Bt. was born on 25 November 1751.1 He was the son of Francis Clerke and Susannah Elizabeth Ashurst.2 He married Byzantia Cartwright, daughter of Thomas Cartwright and Byzantia Lane, on 5 May 1792 at St. George's Church, St. George Street, Hanover Square, London, EnglandG.3 He died on 10 April 1818 at age 66.2
     He was educated at Abingdon Grammar School, Abingdon, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.3 He matriculated at Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, on 15 December 1769.3 He graduated from Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, in 1778 with a Bachelor of Civil Law (B.C.L.)3 He succeeded as the 8th Baronet Clerke, of Hitcham, co. Buckingham [E., 1660] on 15 October 1778.1 He was the Rector at Bury, Lancashire, EnglandG.1 He was Fellow of All Souls.1
